The SLOW DOWN project consists of
• an exhibition and
• the support of the Kuckó (Shelter) volunteer program.
The exhibition is also a sensitizing space, raising awareness for domestic violence.
In 95% of the cases, this problem affects women, therefore it is considered to be the most extreme form of discrimination against women.
The exhibition is based upon the contrast of artworks on the walls and sensitizing cards placed in the space. The cards are providing the visitors exact and authentic information on various forms of domestic violence, i.e. what are the signs, the common misconceptions about it, how to ask for help and provide help effectively.

The sensitizing cards come in the size of a business card, so visitors are free and encouraged to take them home. Apart from the relevant information on th bis subject, each card contains the contact details of the Women’s Rights Association Nők a Nőkért Együtt az Erőszak Ellen (NANE) Egyesület, as a possible organization providing help.
How are the perks distributed?
• 40% of the support received will cover the costs of creating the sensitizing space.
• You can see the list of different perks on the right side. With each perk, you will receive a gift to thank you for supporting our activity. 20% of the support received will be used to print, frame and mail these gifts.
• The remaining 40% will be transferred to the above mentioned Kuckó (Shelter) volunteer program.
The little protégés of Kuckó are children who were forced to leave their family homes behind, and the program provides them with memorable experiences as well as useful items. If you would like to know more about the volunteering group, go to: https://www.facebook.com/kuckoprogram/
In my earlier plans the fundraising campaign would have lasted until the opening of the exhibition, but I felt it was even better to continue with the campaign afterwards, and meanwhile you will have the chance to get acquainted with the project in person.
Why is it worthwhile to join the campaign?
It takes a long time to achieve a shift in public thinking, but since it is a process, it has a direction and it is ongoing. It depends on us, how and where it will lead. The SLOW DOWN project is embedded into this process. It is also important to express that social responsibility can be part of everyday life; in fact it is important that it becomes regular and general. It can start even with a simple click.

When the idea of a new exhibition started to take shape in my mind, I was expecting my son. I often remembered the fact, which is since printed on one of the sensitizing cards, that “More than 25% of the victims of domestic violence are beaten even if they are expecting. (In 10% of these cases the beating results in miscarriage.) In some cases the beatings start or become more severe during pregnancy.” (source: nane.hu)
This thought didn’t leave me alone. At the end I have decided that the exhibition cannot be solely art for art’s sake. The tabooing and the derogation of mental or physical injuries solely provide more free room for offenders. I would like to narrow this roomwith my exhibition.

I have planned to collect circa 111 000 HUF, but the minimal financial goal of the campaign has to be 500 USD, which is a little bit more. I believe this is a reasonable goal, but any little support will curb this project.How are the perks distributed?

What is the current state of the project?
The artworks are ready; the exhibition space has been fixed. The cozy gallery of Katona Lajos City Library in Vác agreed tohost the exhibition. The opening will be on the 6th of October, at 5.30 p.m.In my earlier plans the fundraising campaign would have lasted until the opening of the exhibition, but I felt it was even better to continue with the campaign afterwards, and meanwhile you will have the chance to get acquainted with the project in person.

A kártyák pontos és hiteles információkat áramoltatnak a látogatók felé a családon belüli erőszak fajtáiról, arról, hogy mik a jelek, mik a tévhitek, hogyan lehet segítséget kérni és hogyan lehet jól segíteni?
